Regent University names new provost

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Regent University Board of Trustees tapped Dr. William L. Hathaway to become the school’s new provost.

Immediately before his appointment, Hathaway served as Regent’s Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

“We are more than thrilled to have Dr. Hathaway in this new role,” said Chancellor Gordon Robertson. “For the past 27 years, Dr. Hathaway has been a model of integrity, embodying the heart of Christ as a true servant leader. His energy, innovative ideas, and wise counsel will allow Regent to achieve new heights of excellence and deepen our impact on the communities we serve throughout the world.”

In the capacity of provost, Hathaway will continue to oversee the university’s academic programs, colleges and schools, program development, and accreditation and assessment initiatives.

“I am both honored and grateful to serve Regent’s faculty, staff, and its entire student body of scholars as Provost,” said Dr. Hathaway. “Dr. Robertson provided wisdom and vision when he founded Regent University. Chancellor Gordon Robertson has diligently picked up the mantle and continues to advance the call of cultivating Christian Leadership to Change the World. I consider it a privilege to have his confidence and will continue to be a champion for Regent’s world-changing mission.”

The Air Force veteran earned his doctorate in clinical psychology at Bowling Green State University and a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical child psychology with Russell Barkley at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center ADHD clinic.
