New reggae music festival Holo Holo is moving its venue in the Sacramento area. Here’s where

Holo Holo Music Festival will be changing its location again, according to organizers.

Dan Sheehan, the festival producer, told The Bee that the change in venue is due to denied permits at the previously-planned Sutter Health Park. The event had been planned for Old Sacramento before that, KCRA reported.

The Bee reached out Sutter Health and the West Sacramento police department representatives but did not receive a response.

Sheehan said the event from Sept. 9 to Sept. 10 is now planned for the Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland.

A representative for Live Nation, which owns the venue, confirmed the new location for the festival.

What is the Holo Holo Music Festival?

Holo Holo Music Festival is planned for Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, and is featuring top reggae and island music artists.

It’s produced by Good Vibez Presents, which also hosts the California Roots Music and Arts Festival in Monterey. This year, the festival will be in Sacramento and Las Vegas this year after having its inaugural show in 2022 at the Frost Theater in Stanford.

“Holo Holo” means to move, said Sheehan, who grew up in Hawaii.

“There’s a lot of Pacific Islanders in the Sacramento area and surrounding area, including in the greater Bay Area,” he said, “so it just made a lot of sense to bring something to Sacramento for the people of Hawaii and other islands.”

Sheehan said he expects 15,000 people to be at the festival each day.

Tickets

You can still get tickets online and organizers said if you already bought tickets, they’ll be transferred to the new venue.

Single day tickets for Saturday and Sunday start at $120 each on Ticketmaster.
