Regina King Used a $50 Vitamin C Eye Cream for a Youthful Glow at the Golden Globes

  • Director and actress Regina King, 50, stunned with a glamorous beauty look at the 2021 Golden Globes virtual ceremony.

  • Her makeup artist, Latrice Johnson, used a $50 vitamin C- and retinol-infused eye cream—the Urban Skin Rx Vitaleyez—to help prep her skin.

  • Johnson used Urban Skin Rx for the rest of King’s skincare prep, too.

Resplendent in a sequined Louis Vuitton gown and surrounded by her family (and her interview-crashing dog Cornbread), Best Director nominee Regina King was glowing during the 2021 Golden Globes virtual ceremony—and her makeup artist shared the inside scoop on how to recreate her radiant beauty look.

The One Night in Miami director relied on a four-step skin prep regimen, her makeup artist, Latrice Johnson, revealed in an Instagram post. First, Johnson cleansed King’s skin, and followed with exfoliating peel pads to ensure a smooth base. Then, she applied the Urban Skin Rx Vitaleyez, an ultra-hydrating serum, around her eyes to minimize the look of dark circles and fine lines. At just $48, it far outperforms its price, according to reviewers.

“I have puffy eyes and dark circles,” one Amazon buyer explains. “I’ve been using Vitaleyez twice a day for several weeks now and I am visibly seeing improvements. I’m very, very happy with the results.” Others report similar results for crow’s feet and dryness—the cream firms and smooths delicate skin, leaving eyes looking refreshed.

Its blend of vitamin C, retinol, caffeine, hyaluronic acid, and peptides work together to revitalize (get it?) the eye area, minimizing puffiness and brightening dark circles. Urban Skin Rx claims to formulate its products for consumers with all skin types, especially for those with melanin-rich skin.

King, only the second Black woman ever nominated for Best Director at the Golden Globes, also used the brand’s products for the rest of her skin prep routine. She cleansed with the Even Tone Cleansing Bar, exfoliated with the Even Tone Resurfacing Skin Pads, applied Vitaleyez, moisturized with HydraBalance Instant Moisture and Hydrating Lip Treatment, and mixed Reti-Glow serum into her foundation.

“I wanted to create a look that complemented the strong, bold style of Regina’s Louis Vuitton dress,” Johnson said in a press release. “The skincare regimen I used was perfect in creating a fresh canvas by removing any imperfections and revealing a smooth, hydrated and radiant complexion that glowed.”

The results are simply stunning: As the If Beale Street Could Talk actress put it, she felt “like a bottle of champagne” at the virtual ceremony.
