Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter, took to social media this weekend in a “real emotional” video pleading for “some grace” as she navigates ongoing online pressure at 24.

The clip is making its rounds on social media, where Carter describes her insistence on staying true to who she is, even as she grew up in the public eye.

“Growing up, I feel like you guys [have] seen me in different lights,” she said. “I never hid myself. I never hid who I am. I’ve always stayed true to myself.”

Baby Carter tearfully appealed to people to cut her some slack and understand she is still “learning” and evolving at 24.

“You guys have seen me clap back, you’ve seen the ‘spoiled brat’ side, you’ve seen all of this,” Carter continued. “And I want y’all to give me some grace and to understand that I am learning; I am only 24 years old.”

The Louisiana rapper further expressed that the world’s pressure on the younger generation demands “we put too much on ourselves.”

“Child, I’m strong as hell, but like, sometimes this world puts too much on…our generation and what’s going on,” Carter said.

“We want to be the biggest and have the most money and…have everything all figured out in our 20s, bro,” she explained. “It’s just not gonna happen; it don’t go like that.”

Carter then condemned the judgment she’s received, especially from older folks, and again reiterated she is still “learning,” but more importantly: “We gotta start helping each other.”

“I have literally people that’s older than me judging me on what I do when it’s, like, reach out a hand,” she said.

Carter regularly takes to Twitter to inspire fans to “do you!”

“Make sure you make yourself happy! Make sure you do everything you want! Do not be trying to please these people because they will love you today and hate you tomorrow! Trust me, I see it too often,” she said in one tweet, indirectly addressing her critics.

Like many stars her age, it’s true that online pressure can take its toll. We can only hope that people heed her message and provide her with that much-needed “grace.”
