Recycling district offering camp for kids

The Stark–Tuscarawas–Wayne Recycling District will hosting its first ever summer day camp for children ages 9-12 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. July 18-22. The cost is $50 per camper, though scholarships are available for those demonstrating need, and lunch will be provided. Camp will begin and end each day at the S-T-W Recycling District Office, 9918 Wilkshire Blvd. NE, Bolivar.

Campers will learn what it means to live a sustainable life through fun, interactive activities and will have the opportunity to give back to the community through volunteering. Registration is required and can be done at https://www.timetorecycle.org/outreach-education/.

Only checks and cash will be accepted and must be paid in full before the start of camp. Scholarships are not guaranteed nor is acceptance into the camp. The camp will be available to 13 campers, and all applications will be considered on a first come, first serves basis.

Ohio EPA selects Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Recycling District for grant

The Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Recycling District, along with the county commissioners, announce three projects in the District received a 2022 Recycle Ohio Grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for a total of nearly $44,800 to be used toward outreach and education for the district.

The Ohio EPA also awarded a $21,571 Community and Litter Grant to the Wayne County Farm Bureau for a tire amnesty collection program.

Ohio EPA is issuing more than $5 million in grant funding to 89 recipients, with $3.2 million specifically for community and litter prevention programs.

Community and Litter Grants are available to local governments, parks or health departments, state colleges and universities, solid waste authorities, and nonprofit organizations or Keep America Beautiful communities to support and expand community recycling and litter prevention efforts. Market Development Grants assist businesses that purchase equipment and infrastructure for successful markets of recyclable materials and related products.
