Registered sex offender molests two children sleeping at his home, Indiana cops say

An Indiana man is accused of molesting two children, ages 13 and 8, and violating his lifetime parole.

Michael Forshey, 51, is a registered sex offender not permitted to interact with children under the age of 16 unless approved by the Indiana Parole Board, according to court documents.

At the time of the incident, Forshey lived with his mother, the 13-year-old victim’s great-grandmother, and was her caretaker, according to police. He brought both children, who are cousins, to stay at the home over Christmas break, between Dec. 25 and Dec. 31, police said.

Both children said Forshey molested them while they were asleep in his bed, according to police.

Attorney information for Forshey was not listed.

The 13-year-old victim said he felt uncomfortable and moved far away from Forshey on the bed and tried to go back to sleep, according to court documents.

The 8-year-old victim said he told Forshey to stop and moved “as far away from him on the bed as possible,” according to court documents. He said he was pressed up against the wall on the bed, police said, and went back to sleep.

The victim woke up a second time to Forshey molesting him, according to police.

Both victims said “Nanny,” the 13-year-old’s great-grandmother, was in the home when the incidents occurred, police said. They told police she was watching television in another room.

Both parents told police they did not know Forshey was a registered sex offender, however, the 8-year-old victim’s mother told police she knew Forshey had a “past.”

“She stated that she knew he had a past but was not aware that he was a registered sex offender,” according to court documents.

In October 2023, police said the 8-year-old, his mother and other siblings were living in a camper behind the home and had occasional contact with Forshey. Police told the victim’s mother the children could not have contact with Forshey and needed to relocate.

Forshey is charged with child molesting and violating lifetime parole, according to court documents. There is a warrant for his arrest.

Police said they have made multiple attempts to contact Forshey since Jan. 30.

Forshey was convicted of child molesting in 1997 and sexual misconduct with a minor in 2008. He has been on lifetime parole since 2016.
