Are you registered to vote? Time is running out to do so if you want to cast a ballot in the November general election.

The deadline to register for the Nov. 8 midterm election is Wednesday, Oct. 12.

There are a few ways to get registered to vote, if you aren't already.

The easiest way is to submit an application online. You can do so on the Secretary of State's website at s1.sos.mo.gov/elections/voterregistration. There are three requirements to register: be a U.S. citizen, be a Missouri resident and be 18 years old on Election Day (if you're not 18 yet but will be by Nov. 8, fear not — you can still register). If you're using a tablet, mobile device or other touchscreen, select the "online form" bubble and you can fill out the form right there on the website.

You can also print off a registration application and mail it to your local election authority. (The secretary of state's website has a tool to scroll down to your county and find your local authority's address). In Greene County, it's 940 North Boonville, Room 113, Springfield MO 65802. In Boone County, it's 801 E. Walnut, Room 236, Columbia MO 65201.

You can also register in person at your local election authority, usually the county clerk's office.

Need to update your address or information?

You can easily check the status of your registration on the secretary of state's website at s1.sos.mo.gov/elections/voterlookup. You'll have to enter your name, address, date of birth and county.

If you've moved since you last voted or just want to make sure your name and address are updated, fill out a voter registration application on the website. You can also call your local election office to verify that you're registered and your information is up to date.
