Registration deadline looms to vote in the 2022 November general election

The 2022 general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8, is around the corner. Other election dates, including registration deadlines and early voting, are quickly approaching.

Here's what you need to know.

To check voter registration, update your home address, locate polling places, view sample ballots or find absentee information, visit your county's Board of Elections website or the Ohio Secretary of State voter search page online.

How to register to vote

The last day to register to vote for the general election is Tuesday, Oct. 11, which is 30 days before the election is held.

To register, visit the Board of Elections office for Wayne, Holmes or Ashland counties in person or online, or the Ohio Secretary of State online registration.

  • Wayne County residents can visit the board of elections at 200 Vanover St., Wooster, or go online to waynecountyoh.gov.

  • Ashland County residents can visit 110 Cottage St. Suite 106, Ashland, or visit boe.ohio.gov/ashland.

  • Holmes County residents can go to 75 East Clinton St. Suite 108, Millersburg, or visit boe.ohio.gov/holmes.

  • Ohio Secretary of State's website ohiosos.gov.

Qualifications to register:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must be 18 years old on or before the Nov. 8 election.

  • Must be a resident of Ohio 30 days prior to Election Day.

  • Have not been incarcerated for a felony conviction.

  • Have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court.

  • Have not been permanently disenfranchised for violations of election laws.

Absentee voting information

In-person early voting begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, and ends at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, across Ohio. Vote at the Board of Elections office in your county.

The first requested absentee ballots are mailed Oct. 12. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is noon Saturday, Nov. 5.

To request an absentee ballot, visit you local elections board website and mail the application to the corresponding county board location.
