While you probably won’t have to report to your job on Labor Day, you still can get to work for a good cause.

The Castle 5K Run for Hope, which takes place the morning Sept. 4, raises funds for CommQuest and Alliance Rotary, which both have programs that benefit residents of the Carnation City area.

Runners will compete on the grounds of Glamorgan Castle and University of Mount Union.

CommQuest focuses on providing addiction and mental health services to those in need, helping them overcome challenges and build brighter futures. Alliance Rotary is committed to various local initiatives, including education, healthcare and social welfare programs.

"We are thrilled to bring together the community for the Castle 5K Run for Hope," said Rick Baxter, event organizer. "Not only will participants have the chance to enjoy a scenic run through the stunning Glamorgan Castle and University of Mount Union grounds, but they will also be making a positive impact by supporting the vital work of CommQuest and Alliance Rotary."

In addition to the run, participants also can enjoy a resource fair. Registration is open, and families registering three of more people will receive a discount. Participants who register before Aug. 26 are guaranteed a race shirt, and the first 200 finishers will receive a custom Castle 5K Run finisher medal.
