Regular gas approaching and passing $5

We are approaching three weeks of daily record gas prices. And we are now seeing regular gas priced over five dollars. “Now we are at 95 dollars and my tank is not even full. It’s crazy,” one driver in Wrentham told us.

It’s a small fortunate to fill up as regular gas makes its way closer to and past 5 dollars a gallon. “I never imagined 5,” said a driver. We saw one station in Holliston with regular gas priced more than 5 dollars.

Businesses where a filled up fleet of vehicles is the only way to get the job done are especially feeling the pain at the pump. Leo Simkins owns a tree service company in the Holliston area. “Our log truck has 100 gallon tank on it so it is 600 dollars and that is pretty much every week,” said Simkins.

Simkins says they are now working to secure more local jobs so there will be less driving. “Now with the cost of fuel if I can stay right in our hometown then it is advantageous. The less driving the better but we also don’t want to turn work down. It’s always a double-edged sword,” said Simkins.

AAA says the average price is around $4.73, so it’s a good idea to research and time your fill ups where you see better prices. But people are clearly having trouble stomaching what they are seeing. “I want to be sick,” said a driver.
