Regular Russian troops replacing Wagner mercenaries in Bakhmut
According to Cherevatyi, the change is due to heavy losses suffered by the Wagner troops, prompting Moscow to rotate personnel in the area.

“There’s rotation going on there (in Bakhmut) after major Wagner PMC losses forced them to do so,” said Cherevatyi.
“(Russian) airborne troops and mechanized infantry are entering (the city).”

He added that these forces of the Russian army have been fighting since Feb. 24, 2022, with significant casualties, and have since been reinforced with freshly-mobilized troops.
“We know the names (of these units), their commanders, and their combat effectiveness,” he concluded.
On May 27, Cherevatyi said that Ukrainian troops managed to advance 350-450 meters near Bakhmut.
On May 25, the leader of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, ordered his mercenaries to leave Bakhmut by June 1.
