New Rehoboth Beach restaurant brings street food vibe to the former Nicola Pizza location

Tiki Jac's Street Eats & Brews has opened in Nicola Pizza's former 71 Rehoboth Ave. location.

"We're just excited to have our name on Rehoboth Avenue and bring a new flavor to town," said manager Alyssea Royce.

Tiki Jac's is the fourth brick-and-mortar beach town restaurant of brothers Chris and Anthony Jacona, alongside Zogg's in Rehoboth and The Wheelhouse and Bushels in Lewes. They also own the Sea Hogg food truck.

The Tiki Jac's menu features a unique mix of dishes that take inspiration from street food all over the world, from scrapple bao sliders to octopus tacos to burgers. Chef EJ Simon's specialty, according to Royce, is the "Birria Crunch Wrap."

Tiki Jac's is open seven days a week, 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Nicola's signature red and yellow color scheme has been replaced with whitewashed bricks and black awnings. The takeout window is now part of a painted-on food truck and the interior has been redesigned with trendy, modern black and white with pops of color.

Meanwhile, the Bethany Blues team is renovating the other former Nicola's location on First Street. "Downtown Blues," as the restaurant will be called, is set to open in May.

Nicola Pizza was a Rehoboth Beach mainstay for nearly 50 years. Its owners, the Caggiano family, sold their two downtown locations to Trahos Capital Investments for $4 million in 2021. Nicola Pizza reopened in a new building off Coastal Highway in Lewes in October.
