CHRIS CRAWFORD: Reed Detmers has seen some highs and lows in his 2022 season. From throwing a no-hitter, to being optioned to AAA after posting a 5.67 ERA in his six starts after that no-no. Since being back promoted to the highest level, however, things have gone well for the southpaw. He's actually been one of the best pitchers in baseball as of late.

Over his last three starts, Detmers has gone 19 innings, allowed just two earned runs, and struck out 25 batters with a 0.95 WHIP and .185 average allowed. Oh, he also had an immaculate inning, nine pitches, three strikeouts, to become the first rookie to ever accomplish that feat with a no-hitter in the same year. It's quite the run.

And there are metrics that suggest he can keep this up, and a few that suggest things could turn south as well. He's well below average in hard hit percentage, avoiding barrels and chase rate, but he's also in the good side of expected batting average and strikeout percentage. And it's also worth pointing out that these numbers don't take into account just how good he's been since the All-Star break. Detmers offers risk, but his bat missing as of late gives him a good amount of reward to go with it.
