Relativity Space’s 3D-printed rocket set to launch next week after multiple scrubs

There’s still hope for people to see the first 3D-printed rocket blast off into space.

Relativity Space announced they would plan for another liftoff on Wednesday, Mar. 22 at night.

The company had scrubbed the “Good Luck, Have Fun” launch two times.

The previous attempt happened on Mar. 11 with a four-hour launch window.

But because of an issue with the corner case in the separation and low fuel pressure, the launch was aborted twice and eventually canceled.

Relativity Space scrubbed the first attempt on Mar. 8 because of a temperature issue with the rocket’s liquid engine.

According to a news release, the two-stage rocket has nine 3D-printed Aeon engines on its first stage and one Aeon Vac on its second.

Terran 1 is a 110-foot tall rocket made of mostly 3D-printed materials and is the largest 3D-printed abject to attempt orbital flight.

Relativity Space said next week’s launch window would be from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern time.
