Remains discovered in Maquon storage unit have been identified

The human remains found in a storage unit in Maquon last fall have been identified.

The remains are those of Maquon resident Richard R. Young, 71, the Knox County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday in a news release.

Marcy Oglesby, 50, of Maquon had been charged with first-degree murder and concealing the homicidal death of a person in the case. She had pleaded not guilty.

A judge dismissed charges of murder, aggravated battery, and concealment of a homicidal death earlier this month because the state violated her right to a speedy trial, according to WGIL radio in Galesburg. She still faces charges of concealing the death of a person, forgery and not having a valid FOID card, the radio station reported, and the state's attorney planned to appeal the judge's ruling.
