Remains identified as Amarillo man missing since June

Potter County officials confirmed that human remains found in the area of Indian Hill and Hope Road were identified as an Amarillo man who had been missing since last June.

On June 6, 2022, Wade Benjamin Pierce, 28, was reported missing after family members had not seen him for six days. The Potter County Sheriff’s Office conducted a missing person investigation and found no evidence of foul play in Pierce's disappearance and no leads as to his whereabouts, according to a news release.

On Dec. 19, 2022, human remains were located in the area of Indian Hill and Hope Road.

These were sent to the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences where they conducted DNA analysis, which positively identified the remains as belonging to Wade Pierce.

There is still no evidence of any criminal activity involved in Wade Pierce’s death, the Potter County Sheriff's Office said.
