With the November 8 General Election less than a month away, candidates for Onslow County offices are kicking their campaigns into high gear.

Now that May's primary election has come and gone, voters know who their choices are to represent them for the coming years at the local, state and federal levels.

Current N.C. House of Representative for District 14 George Cleveland, R-Onslow is running for his tenth term in the state legislature. He's running against Democratic candidate Isaiah "Ike" Johnson. The two ran against each other in 2018, with Cleveland beating Johnson by 3,163 votes.

Also at the state level, current N.C. House of Representative for District 15 Phil Shepard, R-Onslow is running for re-election against Democratic candidate and psychology professor Christopher Schulte.

At the local level, two incumbents are up for re-election for the Onslow County Board of Commissioners. Current Vice Chairman of the board Tim Foster is running alongside fellow Republican incumbent Royce Bennett. At least one seat will be filled with a new face, though, as Republican candidate Lisa Carpenter and Democratic candidate Paige Wagner hope to gain enough votes to make their mark on Onslow County.

The Onslow County sheriff and district attorney races are uncontested, but the Onslow County Board of Education looks to fill a few seats. Republican incumbent Bill Lanier hopes to retain his seat and will be running against Republican candidates Angie Todd and Bradley Williams, as well as Democratic candidate Tanyetta Hill.

Onslow County residents will have the opportunity to cast their votes for these seats in the coming weeks. Here is what to know about the Onslow County November 8 General Election.
