Right now, Millennials and Gen Zers are high-key embattled in a generational war. Millennials will recall the glory days of Heelys. The Gen Z answer to that? These Running Shoe Roller Skates that are currently going viral on TikTok.

In 2020, skates had a huge uptick in popularity. With the quarantine preventing everyone from socializing normally, skating made its return to the mainstream. Even In The Know commerce editor Katie Dupere hopped on the skating trend and mastered the art of maneuvering around on wheels.

Over on TikTok, creator @annmoraan found a skating alternative that will remind millennials of their youth: running shoe roller skates.

“Bringing back one of my favorite Amazon purchases ever is these roller skate shoes,” Ann says in the video. “They pop up and down for the wheels, and when the wheels are down, you can walk in them like a normal shoe. I wear them to Target because I mean, who wouldn’t want to skate around Target?”

The Running Shoe Roller Skates have a rating of 4.2 out of five stars on Amazon and just over 900 reviews. One shopper said the shoes “Did not feel cheap at all.”

“These shoes are very sturdy and well made,” they wrote. “Did not feel cheap at all. They are quite heavy, obviously. But when the wheels are tucked away, they kind of remind me of the chunky Skechers that were popular in the 90s. They’re holding up great, wheels are very heavy duty.”

Another customer, who left only four stars, said their skates got caught in the sidewalk.

“They are nice quality and work rather well,” the shopper wrote. “This is probably just an issue with most skates or something, but if you are on the sidewalk, the wheels can get a little caught in between the sidewalk bumps. Otherwise, these are great shoes!”

No matter what year you were born, there’s no denying that skating through life does sound kind of fun. And hey, there are worse ways to spend $95, right?
