'We will remember for a lifetime': New Year's Eve gala to kick off Weymouth's 400th

WEYMOUTH – The town will officially kick off its 400th anniversary year with a New Year's Eve celebration.

Weymouth 400’s New Year’s Eve Gala will take place from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Marriott Boston Quincy.

The gala will feature food and drink, live music, dancing, live and silent auctions, prizes and more as people gather to mark the start of the anniversary.

“We’re thrilled to be kicking off our 400th anniversary commemoration with this exciting event in just a few weeks,” Weymouth 400 President George Raymond said. “With so many Weymouth residents and businesses who are passionate about our town, the gala will be an event we will remember for a lifetime."

Weymouth 400 is the nonprofit group in charge of marking the town’s anniversary in 2022. Tickets for the New Year’s Eve Gala are available on Eventbrite.

The gala's theme, “Experience Our Villages,” shines a spotlight on Weymouth’s four villages: Bicknell Square, Columbian Square, Jackson Square and Weymouth Landing. The neighborhoods will anchor monthly events from May through September 2022.

The New Year's Eve event will begin at 8 p.m. with a cocktail hour.

Country musician Rob Bellamy will perform, and musician and "WKLB Morning Show" host Ayla Brown will emcee.

Dinner will include lobster and filet mignon, followed by music from Weymouth’s the New Band and disc jockey John Sullivan. At midnight, there will be a balloon drop and a champagne toast.
