WORCESTER — The firefighting community is remembering Jason Menard Monday, the fire lieutenant who died in a blaze on Stockholm Street four years ago.

"Jay served the community with dedication and honor. Please keep Jay and his family in your thoughts and prayers," the Fire Department wrote on social media.

Nov. 13, 2019, Menard's crew was called to a three-family house at 7 Stockholm St. Menard became trapped in the flames after helping another firefighter to a stairwell.

It is a difficult time of year for city firefighters, as they pause to remember fallen colleagues.
