Remembering the snow day of 1999 -- share your memories

Jan. 3—Remember the grand Bakersfield snow day of Jan. 25, 1999? If you were here, you certainly recollect what it was like when 3 to 6 inches of snow covered the valley floor that Monday morning.

It was a day when employees called their bosses to inquire: "Do I have to come to work today?" Families built snowmen and women. Public works staff improvised on how they'd move snow to the sides of roads, because why would a snowplow be necessary in metro Bakersfield?
