Netflix's most engrossing (fictional) serial killer will return for another season.

The streaming giant renewed its hit thriller You for a fourth season, days before the release of season 3 in October 2021. The show, which follows Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) from NYC to LA to the Bay Area suburbs as he chases obsessive love, with the killer also cleaning up his messes along the way, is one of Netflix's most popular shows, with 111 million people watching its third season.

"We’re deeply grateful that Netflix has shown You such monumental support, and that people around the world have enjoyed watching Joe really get it all very wrong over the past 3 seasons," creator Sera Gamble told Variety. "The whole You team is excited to explore new, dark facets of love in Season 4."

Last season's finale saw Joe fleeing the country after the explosive end of his time in Madre Linda, setting off to Paris to find his latest obsession, Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). Here's what we know about the next sure-to-be unpredictable season.

You Season 4 will premiere in two parts, on February 10 and March 10, 2022.

Netflix has announced that You will take a page from the Stranger Things season 4 playbook, with a two-part premiere this spring. The streamer dropped the news as part of their fan event Tudum, along with a Joe-narrated clip (seen above) that introduces his new alias, as Professor Jonathan Moore, and the show's new cast of London-based characters.

In addition to the familiar faces of Joe and Marianne (now sporting platinum blonde braids), this season's characters include several university students and global aristocrats. Via voiceover, Joe tells us that he has put the past behind him, focusing on academia while keeping his "typical extracurricular activities strictly professional." No idea what that means, but hopefully Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), the new addition that Joe has his eye on in the clip, will at least survive the season. Watch the full trailer below.

Season 4 filmed across the pond.

Netflix revealed the thriller's new filming location in a cryptic post yesterday. The pic shows Badgley, now sporting a beard and slightly longer hair than his character has worn, sitting in a director's chair outside a London building. Next to him is a stack of books including Great Expectations and Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, and William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair. While the stack could just be Joe Goldberg's reading list, they could also give a hint at the upcoming season.

Lukas Gage and Charlotte Ritchie have joined the Season 4 cast.

We now have our full season 4 cast list, which was announced alongside the reveal that the season will take place in London rather than Paris. Netflix previously announced in February that The White Lotus star Lukas Gage had joined the cast as Adam, a hard-partying and disappointing son of wealthy parents who does whatever it takes to get what he wants. As similar as he sounds to the deceased Forty, Adam and Joe may not get along so well.

Also joining the cast are Ghosts star Charlotte Ritchie, Tilly Keeper, Amy Leigh Hickman, and Ed Speleers, as well as other recurring actors, with the range of characters including students, aristocrats, and even a princess, per Deadline. Ritchie will play Kate, a smart and fiercely-loyal art gallery director who immediately dislikes Joe, while Keeper will portray Kate's best friend Lady Phoebe, an aristocratic socialite and supportive girlfriend to Adam. Hickman plays Nadia, a lit major and aspiring author who's an outsider among her peers, and Speelers will play Rhys, an irreverent author who's pressured to launch a political career.

Tati Gabrielle will reprise her role.

Joe ended his time in Madre Linda with a literal explosion, killing Love after she tried to kill him and his new romantic obsession, Marienne the Librarian (Tati Gabrielle). After framing Love for his own death, he left his infant son Henry with a pair of loving parents, and fled the country. The final scene shows Joe in Paris(!) promising to search the world to find Marienne.

Though we hoped the young mom and her daughter will stay hidden, new set photos posted by Just Jared show Gabrielle filming alongside Badgley last week. In the pics, which you can see here, Gabrielle runs away through the London streets, which is a reasonable response to coming face to face with her ex. No word on how large a role Marienne will play in the new season, but hopefully she gets away from Joe alive.
