You Can Rent This Giant Potato on Airbnb—and It's Actually Really Cute Inside
Potatoes are by far the MVP of the food pyramid-they've provided us with fried delicacies like french fries, tater tots and the age-old potato chip but also dominate the Thanksgiving table (or any table, TBH) in different versions, like mashed and baked. Now, for anyone who really, truly loves the carb-y wonder, you can, uh, live in one.
On Earth Day, the Idaho Potato Commission decided to take recycling to the next level-by transforming their 6-ton potato into a rentable Airbnb called The Big Idaho Potato Hotel. The steel spud is 28 feet long and 12 feet wide, and it's firmly planted in South Boise, Idaho (overlooking the Owyhee Mountains!).

Originally, the huge potato was built to celebrate the Idaho Potato Commission's 75th anniversary, and traveled the country for seven years before finally returning back to Idaho. Kristie Wolfe, a former member of the Big Idaho® Potato Truck Tour team had a vision of the potato's life after the tour, and turned it into the most spud-tacular tiny home you could image.
“When Kristie presented her vision for the potato, the IPC unanimously agreed to donate it to her. Based on the success of her other tiny houses, we had no doubt the Big Idaho® Potato Hotel could eventually become one of the biggest attractions in Idaho, further promoting the state’s most important agricultural commodity,” explained Frank Muir, President & CEO, IPC in a press release.
The all-white interior with pink and wood accents give this tater a chic, rustic feel-standing in it, you'd never guess the outside is actually a huge potato.
This eco-friendly hotel is energy efficient, equipped with air conditioning and running water. It can comfortably accommodate two people and is located just 20 miles away from downtown Boise.
