U.S. Rep. Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Vasquez visited several cities in New Mexico's second district early last week including Las Cruces, Belen and Alamogordo, stopping at Holloman Air Force Base to learn the innerworkings of the facility.

Vasquez plans to visit communities throughout his Second Congressional District frequently for the remainder of his term, which is up for re-election next year, said Vasquez spokesperson Valeria Ojeda-Avitia.

“We plan to be back most district work periods and plan to be in the district as often as possible," she said.

Vasquez started his visits on March 13 in Socorro with a discussion on the shortage of healthcare workers in the region at the Socorro Mental Health clinic.

He also stopped by manufacturing facilities like Airnov and Big Tuna Pipe with a “commitment to growing New Mexico’s manufacturing industry, expanding jobs, and strengthening local economies,” according to a press release from Vasquez's office.

Vasquez's last stop on March 20 was in Alamogordo at Holloman Air Force base (HAFB).

"Holloman Air Force Base had the pleasure of hosting a visit from Congressman Gabe Vasquez from New Mexico's 2nd District March 14. It was an absolute honor to show him and his team what Holloman is all about and why we are America's premiere training wing," read a statement from HAFB.

Vasquez was recently chosen to join the U.S. House Armed Services Committee and said he took this opportunity to learn about serving and supporting service members to inform his work on the committee.

“I visited rural manufacturing facilities, rural healthcare clinics and met individually with constituents in Alamogordo. I’m looking forward to taking the feedback I heard back to Washington to continue fighting for the livelihood of our communities,” Vasquez said in a statement.
