May 15—U.S. Rep. Jared Golden and his wife, Isobel, are the parents of their first child, a girl. Rosemary Calderwood Golden was born Friday in Lewiston, a spokesman for the congressman said.

Golden, D-2nd District, posted a tweet Saturday during which he updated his profile bio to read, "Proud Dad."

"We are so pleased to welcome Rosemary Calderwood Golden into the world," Golden said in a statement. "Izzy and baby are happy and healthy, and we're so thankful for this blessing. We look forward to showing her the beauty of Maine in the months and years ahead."

The couple announced in November that they were expecting their first child.

They met after Golden returned from service in the U.S. Marines, and married in 2015. Both are graduates of Bates College.

Isobel Golden, whose maiden name is Moiles, served as a city councilor in Lewiston from 2016 to 2018. Jared Golden was first elected to the 2nd District seat in 2018, and won re-election last year.

He said he'll return to the nation's capital when it's appropriate, The Associated Press reported.

"I look forward to being back at work in Washington as soon as my responsibilities to my family allow," he said.
