WASHINGTON, DC — Local and national officials from New Jersey were present at the Inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday.

"Today I had an opportunity to witness the renewal of democracy in our nation’s capital. I now have faith in our commander and chief and his plan to reunite America on the principles of it’s founding. Thank you to the Hon. Josh Gottheimer for extending me the invitation to celebrate a historic moment in America’s history. God Bless America," wrote Cureton.

Gottheimer addressed the circumstances Biden faces during his term, but said he's hopeful that the American people picked the right leader.

"Joe Biden has been sworn in as our 46th President. Now, we have a lot of work to do. Our nation is deeply divided, and everyone at every level needs to work together to help solve the issues we're facing," he said.

"Joe Biden is a uniter, and I'm looking forward to working with him & his Administration to beat COVID-19, keep our nation safe, stand by our veterans and first responders, and create new economic opportunities for everyone."

Gottheimer and Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Tom Reed issued a statement focused on the bipartisan opportunities they believe could come with a Biden presidency in the face of COVID-19 and a divided nation.

"The Problem Solvers Caucus stands ready and eager to work with President Biden on this effort. If we can commit to working across the aisle and collaborating on a genuine bipartisan agenda, the opportunities are endless," they said.

"Congress is narrowly divided in both the House and Senate. Bipartisan solutions will be the only way to enact meaningful legislation and address the many challenges plaguing our country."

Gottheimer also joined New Jersey Rep. Mikie Sherrill and Rep. Tom Malinowski for a photo on Wednesday.

Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. was also on hand to view the historic moment.

"I am honored and I am delighted and I am awed to watch Joe Biden be sworn in a few feet away in 90 minutes," said Pascrell Wednesday morning.

Later, he shared a photo of himself with the newly sworn-in president, with a message of excitement.

"I can’t wait to get to work with this decent man," he said.
