Rep. Jake Auchincloss To Host Series Of Virtual Roundtables

NEWTON, MA — This week, Congressman Jake Auchincloss will host a series of virtual roundtable discussions with local leaders, educators, and constituents from across the Fourth District.

These roundtable discussions, which will begin on Monday, Jan. 24 and run through Friday, Jan. 28, will address a range of topics, including student mental health during the pandemic, wind energy, and infrastructure.

Each roundtable will be live-streamed to the the Auchincloss' Facebook page. Additionally, he will host a Facebook Town Hall to give an update on legislative priorities and take questions live.

Here is the full schedule of discussions:

Monday, Jan. 24, 12 to 12:30 p.m.
Infrastructure Roundtable with Mayors and Town Administrators

Congressman Auchincloss will hold a roundtable discussion with Administrator Mel Kleckner (Brookline), Mayor Paul Coogan (Fall River), Mayor Ruthanne Fuller (Newton), and Mayor Shaunna O’Connell (Taunton) to discuss the implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and other community issues.

Student Mental Health Roundtable

Vanessa Calagna, Kid and Parent Coach at Willsey Connections, Katie Clark, a mental health professional in a Fourth District public school, and Jessica Pepple, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Norfolk, Plainville, Wrentham & King Philip Schools, will join Congressman Auchincloss for a panel discussion about the mental wellbeing of students during the pandemic.

Offshore Wind Roundtable

Dave Araujo, president of the Southeastern MA Building Trades Council, Jennifer Menard, vice-president at Bristol Community College, associates from Mayflower Wind and Vineyard Wind, and representatives from the offices of state elected officials will discuss the future of the offshore wind industry in South Coast Massachusetts with Congressman Auchincloss.

Local Business Chamber of Commerce Roundtable

Congressman Auchincloss will host a roundtable discussion with representatives from several Fourth District Chambers of Commerce: Charles River Regional Chamber, Milford Area Chamber of Commerce, One SouthCoast Chamber, Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce, Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, and United Regional Chamber of Commerce. Topics will include the impact of Covid-19 on businesses as well as the implementation of the American Rescue Plan Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill on the region’s business community.

Congressman Auchincloss will have a discussion with Dana Hanson, district director, and Kevin O’Neil, district representative. Ms. Hanson and Mr. O’Neil will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of a congressional district office, and share the constituent services Congressman Auchincloss’s office offers.
