Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD): “I’ve got too much self-respect and concern for hygiene” to stay at a Trump hotel.

At a House Oversight Committee hearing on whether to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress, Democrats noted the hypocrisy of Republicans caring about the president’s son’s business dealings, but not those of the former president.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) was one of the members who noted that just last week Democrats on the panel released a report showing Donald Trump received nearly $8 million from foreign governments during his presidency.

The lion’s share of the foreign money flowed from China, which, along with other countries, primarily patronized three properties: Trump hotels in Washington and Las Vegas and Trump Tower in New York.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Raskin got into a back-and-forth over the matter during a hearing.

While walking away, Donalds leaned into a mic and asked, “Have you ever stayed at a Trump hotel, Mr. Raskin?”

“No, and I would never would stay at a Trump hotel. I’ve got too much self-respect and concern for hygiene,” Raskin replied.
