Rep. Lesko is running unopposed in Arizona's 8th Congressional District

Arizona voters in the 8th Congressional District have just one name to choose from on the Nov. 8 general election ballot: incumbent Rep. Debbie Lesko.

Arizona's new 8th Congressional District covers parts of Maricopa and Yavapai counties, including Glendale, Peoria, Sun City West and New River.

Here is some more information on the Republican candidate.

Republican candidate: Debbie Lesko

Born in Wisconsin, Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., became the 8th Congressional District's representative in 2018.

According to Lesko’s campaign website, she wants to cut federal spending, increase funds for students and teachers, do a “complete repeal” of the Affordable Health Care Act, and fully fund the military and provide them with equipment to be able to “win the war against ISIS, terrorist groups, and avoid nuclear match-ups with countries such as North Korea.”

She wants to work on reforming the U.S. asylum system in regard to immigration, protecting Medicare and Social Security and improving care for veterans.

Lesko served in the Arizona Senate from 2015 to 2018. Before that, she served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015.
