Repair work begins on Taylor building, nearby traffic flow to be affected

Disruption along West Chicago Road begins this week with upcoming maintenance work at the former Taylor’s Stationers store at 60 W. Chicago St. in Coldwater. The impact is expected to last for two weeks of work.

Contractors will power-wash, tuck point and paint the two-story structure, which will become the home of the Children’s Museum.

The work will impact traffic flow on North Hanchett Street and in the Milnes Plaza parking lot next to the Lofts apartments.

During the work, there will be no northbound turns onto North Hanchett from U.S. 12. Single lane entry into Milnes Plaza from North Hanchett and access to Milnes Plaza from North Monroe Street will remain the same.

Upson Plaza guests can exit normally onto North Hanchett Street, but may only enter from the north. Drivers are encouraged to enter and exit Upson Plaza from Clay Street.

The sidewalks surrounding the Taylor Building will be closed. Pedestrians are encouraged to use sidewalks on the south side of U.S. 12 to avoid the work area.

Traffic will be disrupted for two weeks around 60 W. Chicago St. in Coldwater for building renovations.
