The Repair Shop star Jay Blades has revealed to fans that "brand new" episodes of the popular BBC show are being filmed.

Taking to Instagram to share the update with his followers, the foreman of the show posted a snap of the iconic 'Repair Shop' sign and the news that more episodes are in production.

"You will be pleased to know that this week we are filming some brand new The Repair Shop shows for you," he wrote.

The show, which airs on BBC One, follows experts craftspeople as they restore family heirlooms of sentimental value to their former glory.

It is fronted by Blades, a furniture restorer and television presenter who was awarded an MBE in 2021 for services to craft.

The show has thus far aired for 12 series, restoring countless artefacts for guests – including a special episode featuring King Charles III (then still the Prince of Wales) as part of the BBC's centenary celebrations.

The King and Blades, alongside other The Repair Shop experts, restored a Wemyss Ware piece made for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and an 18th century bracket clock.

Blades has also recently released a part-memoir, part-self-help book titled Life Lessons: Wisdom and Wit from Life's Ups and Downs.

The book's official synopsis reads: "Filled with characteristic warmth and humour, Jay talks about the life lessons that have helped him to find positivity and growth, no matter what he's found himself facing."

Prior to the book's release, Blades was also revealed as the host of a new Channel 5 programme set to explore the Midlands.

The Midlands Through Time will see the foreman uncover the extraordinary history of his West Midlands home, including forays into Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry and beyond.

The Repair Shop airs on BBC One.
