Repair work underway in post-storm Philippines

Repairs are underway in the Philippines, as deadly Typhoon Kammuri moves away from the Southeast Asian country.

Video footage obtained by Reuters showed fallen trees and roofs ripped of buildings after the typhoon.

Before it hit Monday (December 2) night, officials evacuated over 200,000 people.

They said that prevented greater loss of life when the typhoon made landfall.

Disaster agencies said tens of thousands of people are still in evacuation centers, waiting to return home.

Hundreds of flights were cancelled, and commercial sea travel stopped.

Government offices and schools in Manila were also closed.

The Philippines was forced to postpone several events in the Southeast Asian Games, which it's hosting until December 11.

It's the 20th storm to hit the country this year.
