Replacement Wide Receivers - Week 11

- Scott, welcome. Matt mentioned it at the top, the wide receiver situation is absolutely dreadful right now. It's terrible. We've got no Cooper Kupp. We've got no Ja'Marr Chase, no Miami, no Tampa, no Seattle, no Jacksonville. They're all on bye, so they took all of the wide receiver ones and wide receiver twos with them. So I guess, first question, are you interested in any of the remaining Rams receivers following the Kupp injury?
- Interested? No. Desperate enough to start Ben Skowronek in the league? Yes, and I'm hoping for five catches for 48 yards. That would satiate me. It's a gross week for it, just the worst possible time for your receivers to not be playing, but we've gotten some breaks.
Donovan Peoples-Jones is a lot more pliable now that game has been moved indoors. So instead of a snowstorm-- and, look, we have bad weather in Detroit. But they have an indoor stadium, so this is a sign to NFL teams. If you don't like your weather, just come to Detroit. We can cancel the Lions game, if necessary, and everybody can get their fantasy points. Everybody's happy.
- Oh, so accommodating. Talk to me about Darius Slayton, this week. I know that you've been high on him, basically, throughout the season coming off a game with a touchdown, and he has a spectacular match up here.
- Yeah, he's beaten his fantasy projection in three or four games, one of my favorite pet players from that great 2019 NFL draft. I think he gets either 70 yards or a touchdown, maybe both against the Detroit secondary that will gladly escort you where you want to go, and I think an underrated story this year is Daniel Jones has played pretty darn well. Yeah, it's going to be the Barkley show. I get it, but the number one receiver in New York, it's obviously not Tony. He's out of town.
It's obviously not Kenny Golladay. He's totally out of favor. I think Robinson is an interesting player. But if they're making explosive play downfield, It's going to be Darius Slayton. He's actually a proactive play. You should all be lucky enough to have Slayton. I'm sure people are going deeper than that in some leagues.
- One of the most added players in Yahoo Fantasy Leagues this week, and certainly, one of the most asked about players, I think, on Twitter, at least, in my feed has been Parris Campbell. Where are you at on him? It seems like, basically, anytime Matt Ryan is playing, Parris Campbell is seeing nine or 10 targets.
- There you go. I mean, who knew that what we needed to save the Colts was Jeff Saturday and Matt Ryan? But apparently, that's what we needed. Ehlinger, just not ready for prime. In the last three, Matt Ryan starts, 32 targets, 24 catches, 203 yards, and three touchdowns for Parris Campbell. Dare I say, I think he's going to be their number one receiver.
We're all Michael Pittman fans, but Parris Campbell and Matt Ryan got something going. And Matt Ryan's at a stage in his career, where he needs to rely on whatever works for him, you know, maybe not utilized his best player, but the guy that he has the best connection with. And to me, that's Parris Campbell.
I've ranked him well inside my top 20. I don't even want to field Parris Campbell questions this week. I want him in your starting lineup.
- Man, Parris Campbell, ranked in the teens, what a week. Talk to me, one last guy, let's talk a little bit about Mack Hollins. He's presumably a little bit further down the ranks, obviously, but a great opportunity for him with a banged up receiving corps for the Raiders.
- Yeah, any name that rhymes with Ollins, if you want to go Nico Collins with 10 targets last week, he might be ahead of Brandin Cooks. I'm fine with that, but Mack Hollins with the injuries in Vegas, look, it's going to be a low scoring game, so you may not get the touchdown. This is another case, where if you somehow got the 70 yards, you'd be happy.
That's what we're doing in week 11. We're lowering our expectations. If there's a downfield play made, I think Hollins is the guy. Obviously, Adams works so well in the shorter and intermediate areas, but I see seven or eight targets for Mack Hollins. That's a currency in fantasy football, and with so many offenses we can't trust, at least, Derek Carr, I think, can be a competent quarterback. Is that asking too much?
