Replay: Austin-area high school football kicks off Week 11 games Friday

Games kicked off this week on Thursday as LBJ running back Sedrick Alexander became the career rushing king of Austin ISD as the Jags shut out Crockett.

What teams will leave their mark on this Central Texas high school football season this week? Follow along below with us as the American-Statesman keeps you up to date on all the Austin-area preps action on Friday:

5A-Division II Playoff Correction

In 4A DI play, Taylor squeaks past Burnet 41-40 to earn the fourth and final playoff spot in District 13

LBJ Hosts Elgin; McCallum Entertains Rouse

With a wild final night of the regular season, the Region III pairings in 5A Division II have been set and the bi-district round looks like this:

Elgin at LBJ

Rouse at McCallum

Eastside at Belton

Crockett at Waco University

In another District 12-5A DII final, LASA holds on to dump Travis 28-15.

In a 4A, winner makes the playoffs, Taylor is nipping Burnet 41-40 with 1:35 remaining in regulation.

East View Hangs on for First Victory

With an interception inside the last minutes, East View has outlasted Leander 46-43 to earn its first win on the season.

In other finals, Dripping Springs dumped Anderson 49-0, while McCallum buried Eastside 55-0.

Pflugerville Downs Connally

In a battle of Pflugerville, Pflugerville dumped Connally 27-7 at The Pfield.

LASA is up on Travis 28-7 with less than 4 minutes left in the contest.

Taylor is edging Burnet 34-32 in the fourth, while East View leads Leander by 3, 46-43 with less than 2 minutes remaining.

11-5A DII Completes Topsy-Turvy Night

After trailing 29-28 with less than a minute remaining, Belton has rallied to down Waco University 31-29 to claim the District 11-5A DII crown.

With this result, Belton claims the title, with Waco University, Elgin and Rouse deadlocked in 2nd place in district play.

The tiebreaker sill decide the playoff seedings for the DII tourney.

Belton will host Northeast in the opening round. The other games are yet to be determine.

Shootout in Leander

Looking for its first win of Michael Wall's inaugural season as head coach, East View is up on Leander 46-35 early in the fourth quarter.

Cedar Ridge has qualified for the 6A Division I playoffs as the Raiders edged McNeil 34-28 in an overtime thriller.

With the win, the Raiders have the daunting task of facing 3-time defending state champ Westlake while Round Rock will host Lake Travis.

In 6-A DII, newcomer Dripping Springs will host Manor, while Vandegrift hosts Bowie.

Marble Falls closes its season on the wrong side of a 44-16 score against SA Davenport.

LASA leads Travis 21-7 entering the final quarter.

Eagles Soaring Past T-Wolves

With their eyes on a District 11-5A DI title, Georgetown's Andrew Petter's second TD of the 4th quarter has given the Eagles a 40-14 lead over Cedar Park with less than 4 minutes left in the contest.

The Eagles will finish the season with an 8-2, 6-1 record in tying A&M Consolidated and College Station for the district title.

In 11-5A DII, Waco University has rallied to take a 29-28 lead over Belton with :42 remaining.

If this result holds up with Rouse's win over Elgin, the Raiders will face McCallum in the DII playoffs while Elgin will travel to face LBJ.

In 4A action, Taylor is up on Burnet 34-18 early in the second half.

Cedar Ridge has rallied to send their game with McNeil into overtime tied at 28.

Heading for 3-Way Tie for 2nd in 11-5A DII

As Rouse is leading Elgin 42-23 late in the 4th quarter, it ls looking like Belton will win the district, with a 3-way tie between Rouse, Elgin and Waco University for 2nd in the league play.

Austin High still leads Del Valle 24-7 late in the first half.

Leander has come from 12 down at half, to take a 35-33 lead over East View in 11-5A DI play.

Joyner Not Being Contained

Manor's Quinten Joyner has amassed 325 yards rushing and 4 TDs as Manor is poised to make the class 6A DII playoffs as the Mustangs lead Stony Point 49-10

Also in 25-6A, Round Rock is 3 TDs better than Vista Ridge 31-10 in the third quarter.

In 5A-DII, Rouse is leading Elgin 28-23 in the 4th stanza.

At the end of 3, Georgetown is still up on Cedar Park 26-14.

Booras Answers Arp TD

Georgetown's junior signal caller Noah Booras answered Ayden Arp's scoring run with a 25-yard scoring run as the Eagles lead Cedar Park 26-14 midway through the third quarter.

Booras has now accounted for 4 scores with 3 scoring passes and this run.

Manor is drilling Stony Point 49-10 in the fourth quarter.

Arp Scores Again

Cedar Park QB, Ayden Arp has scored his second TD with his feet as he runs it in from 8 yards as the T-Wolves have narrowed its deficit to 5, 19-14 against Georgetown.

In other scores, LASA leads Travis 14-7 with 1:02 left in the game.

Taylor is leading Burnet 27-18 late in the first half, while Dripping Springs leads Anderson 28-0 in the second quarter.

Maroons Up 14 in 2nd Stanza

Austin High is leading Del Valle 14-0 with 11:41 remaining in the opening half.

Rouse has extended its lead to 28-17 over Elgin in a game where both schools have already qualified for the 5A DII playoffs.

McNeil continues to lead Cedar Ridge as the Mavericks are up by 8, 21-13 in the third quarter.

Taylor has expanded its lead to 20-12 over Burnet with 9:52 in the opening half.

East View is up on Leander 33-21 as the game nears the end of the opening half.

Wimberley Finishes Regular Season Unbeaten

Wimberley has finished its regular season unbeaten as the Texas whitewashed Austin Achieve 66-0.

In a games that still have yet to reach halftime, Travis and LASA are tied at 7, while Dripping Springs leads Anderson 21-0 in the second quarter.

Regents Cruising Past Crusaders

Late in the first half, Regents is blanking St. Michael's 34-0.

Late in the first quarter, Taylor has pulled ahead of Burnet 13-12. The winner of the game goes to the UIL playoffs.

Maxwell Pushes Pats' Lead to 6

Patrick Maxwell's field goal has given East View a 26-21 lead over Leander in the second quarter.

In a shocker, McNeil is leading Cedar Ridge 21-6 late in the first half.

Ducks Pull Within 6

Taylor has scored and has pulled within 12-6 of Burnet midway through the first quarter.

Manor is up 20 over Stony Point 30-10 at the half.

Dripping Springs is leading Anderson 7-0 in the first quarter at House Park.

Round Rock leads Vista Ridge 21-10 late in the first half.

After recovering a fumble deep in their own territory, Georgetown marches 87 yards in 4 plays as Drayden Dickmann hauls in Noah Booras' third TD pass, from 38 yards out. After the two-point conversion pass was incomplete, the Eagles are up 19-7 with less than 30 seconds in the half.

Mavericks Leading Cedar Ridge in 2nd

In a key 25-6A game, McNeil is leading Cedar Ridge 14-6 in the second quarter.

Stony Point's Cam Cook has scored on a 11-yard run as the Tigers have pulled within 27-10 to Manor.

In Leander, East View leads Leander 23-14 in the second quarter.

T-Wolves Cash in on Opportunity

After a muffed punt, Cedar Park has cut its deficit to 13-7 as Ayden Arp kept it on a QB keeper from a yard out before the end of the quarter.

The Eagles have moved out to midfield as the quarter ends..

In other action, Round Rock leads Vista Ridge 7-3 late in the first quarter, while Regents is a TD better than St. Michael's 7-0.

In a final, Liberty Hill crushes Comal Pieper 49-7,

Manor is running past Stony Point 27-3 late in the first quarter as Quinten Joyner burst through the line for a 73-yard scoring run.

Dominguez Scores Again

Marquis Dominguez has scored again on a TD pass from Noah Booras to give Georgetown a 13-0 lead in the first quarter over Cedar Falls.

The extra point was missed as the Eagles now have driven 86 yards and 80 yards on their opening two possessions.

Manor leads Stony Point 14-0 in the first quarter as Sean Harris scores on a 17-yard pass from David Jeffrey.

Joyner Puts Mustangs on Top

Wasting little time, Quinten Joyner's 13-yard scoring run has given Manor a 7-0 lead on Stony Point with 10:17 remaining in the first quarter.

Marquis Dominguez hauled in a 53--yard pass from Noah Booras as Georgetown has jumped out to an early 7-0 lead as the Eagles marched 86 yards on its opening possession.

Weather Moving Out of the Area

The lightning that has delayed many area games tonight appears to have moved out of the area so the kickoffs for the games that have been delayed should take place within the next 15-20 minutes.

Bowie - Lake Travis Game Cancelled

With the playoff seedings already determined the 26-6A contest between Lake Travis and Bowie has been cancelled due to the weather delay.

The Cavaliers earn the #2 spot in DI behind Westlake, while the Dawgs are the #2 team in D!!.

Lockhart Up 11 at Half

Lockhart has opened a 24-13 lead over Kerrville Tivy at half.

With a 3rd quarter TD by Luke Johnson, Blanco is dominating SA Cole 30-0.

Also at half, Lampasas leads Canyon Lake 23-7.

Glenn Falls to A&M Consolidated

With A&M Consolidated's 19-17 win over Glenn, the winner of the Cedar-Park-Georgetown game will have the 3rd seed in the Class 5A D1 playoffs while the losers will place 4th.

The third-seeded team will take on New Braunfels Canyon on the road, while the 4th-place qualifier will tackle district champ Smithson Valley.

In a 13-4A DI winner gets in contest, Burnet leads Taylor 14-0 in the opening quarter in Taylor.

Badgers On Top of Eagles

In a game that is not currently delayed, Lampasas is leading Canyon Lake 16-9 in the second quarter of a District 13-Class 4A contest.

Lightning is also delaying the start of the Anderson and Dripping Springs 26-6A contest at House Park.

It could be worse though, It is snowing in Pampa up in the Panhandle as Pampa leads Canyon 12-0 in the second quarter.

Granger Knocks off Bartlett

In a tune-up for the Class 2A - Division playoffs, Granger ran past Bartlett 45-12.

The Lions have given up an average of 18.2 points a game which is second best mark in the last 10 years. (Thanks Mike Barnes).

Panthers Rolling Past Comal Pieper

Liberty Hill has stepped on the throttle and the Panthers now lead Comal Piper 28-0 with 2:03 left before intermission.

In a 4A contest, San Antonio Davenport is looking to keep Marble Falls winless in district action as the Wolves lead the Mustangs 7-0 in the opening quarter.

Edmundson De-Commits from Spartans

In a story first reported by the Detroit Free Press, Lake Travis senior quarterback Bo Edmundson has de-committed from his verbal pledge to Michigan State.

The 6-3 signal caller is currently ranked the 39th best 2023 QB prospect according to 24/7 Sports composite recruiting rankings.

Blanco Opens up 14-Point Lead

Senior Devin Newsome has scored his second TD of the game, this one a 15-yard run, to give Blanco a 14-0 lead over San Antonio Cole.

San Marcos, hoping to make the 6A playoffs, are up on SA East Central 7-0 with 8:36 remaining in the opening quarter.

Vista Ridge - Round Rock Delayed; Glenn Trails in 3rd Stanza

The 25-6A matchup between Round Rock and Vista Ridge is still in a lightning delay at Gupton Stadium.

In 11-5A DI action, Glenn is trailing A&M Consolidated 19-10 in the 3rd.

In a District 12-5A DI tilt, Smithson Valley leads Seguin 14-10 early in the second quarter. If the Rangers hold on and win, Smithson Valley will face either Cedar Park or Georgetown in the opening round of the UIL Class 5A DI playoffs.

Liberty Hill Up Early

With 5:00 remaining in the opening quarter the Panthers have jumped out to a 7-0 lead over Comal Pieper.

The Statesman's Thomas Jones reports that pending any more lightning delays Manor and Stony Point look to kick off around 8:00 at Kelly Reeves.

Raiders Lead at Half

In a game in which the start time was moved to 6:00, Rouse leads Elgin 21-14 at the half.

In a Class 13-31 Division 1 contest on Thursday, Luling edged Marion 28-26 to secure its first winning season since 2013. According to Mike Barnes, the six wins equals the Eagles' win total from the last 5 seasons combined.

Blanco Looking For 2nd Seed

Blanco is hosting San Antonio Cole at Blanco Stadium as the Panthers are aiming to take second place in District 13-3A Division I.

Jay Plotkin has reported that a weather delay has just begun at Cavalier Stadium as well so the kick is on hold for at least 30 minutes. Also Starflight has departed the stadium with the patient who suffered a medical emergency this evening.

More Delays Wreaking Havoc on Area Games

In addition to the weather delays in Leander and Georgetown, lightning has delayed the start of the Stony Point - Manor game at the Palace on Parmer.

Both Stony Point and Manor feature Power 5 running back commits.

Stony Point feathers TCU pledge Cameron Cook, while the Mustangs are led by Southern Cal commit Quinten Joyner.

The Statesman's Jay Plotkin has reported that a medical emergency inside Cavalier Stadium that is being attended by EMS and Starflight may delay the kick of the Bowie-Lake Travis game.

Wildcats Takes Lead

After falling behind 7-0 in the first quarter, Elgin has stormed back to take a 14-7 lead over Rouse in a key District 11-5A DII matchup.

Delays In Georgetown and Leander

From Jeff Jones, lightning in the area has cleared the stands at Birkelbach Field were Cedar Park and Georgetown are set to rekindle their old district rivalry with both teams already securing a playoff spot.

Georgetown is riding a 5-game winning streak after falling in its district opener to A&M Consolidated 48-34, while the Timberwolves have triumphed three weeks in a row after starting the season 1-5.

Leander and East View are also experiencing a weather delay at Bible Stadium.

Burnet – Taylor Tussle Will Decide Playoff Berth

Taylor hosts Burnet with the fourth and remaining playoff spot up for grabs in a District 13-4A Division I showdown.

Both schools are 1-3 in district play.

In another meaningful district tilt, Lampasas looks to earn a piece of the district championship as the Badgers, 3-1 in district competition, hosts district leader Canyon Lake.

Elgin-Rouse Matchup Key to District 11-5A DII Seedings

While the four teams already know they have earned a shot in the state 5A Division II playoffs a local game will help determine playoff seedings for Elgin and Rouse.

Elgin, winless last year, could be considered the top surprise of the campaign will bring its 7-2, 4-1 ledger to the home finale against Rouse (4-5, 3-2).

Alexander Sets Austin ISD Rushing Mark

In last night’s 49-0 win over Crockett, LBJ’s Sedrick Alexander, a Vanderbilt commit, set the Austin ISD rushing mark as he passed Northeast’s (former;y Reagan High) Mulbah Car’s all-time mark.

Joining District 12-5A DII champ LBJ in the playoffs will be McCallum, Crockett and Northeast.

Northeast edged Navarro 13-3 last night to earn its way into the playoffs.

McCallum closes its regular season with winless Eastside.

Old District Rivals Face-Off in 11-5A DI

Old rivals square off at Birkelbach Field as Georgetown is looking to gain a share of the District 11-5A championship as the Eagles (7-2, 5-1) take on perennial stalwart Cedar Park (4-5, 4-2).

Georgetown is entering the weekend locked in a three-way tie at the top to the district standings with A&M Consolidated and College Station.

Glenn (5-4, 3-3) is looking to finish the season above the .500 mark as the Grizzles travel to face A&M Consolidated.

College Station has already claimed a share of the district title as the Tigers dumped Hendrickson last night 42-14.

East View visits Leander at Bible Stadium with each school looking for its first district win.

Playoff Combatants Set in 26-6A

Unlike 25-6A, all four state playoff tickets are punched prior to the season finales in District 26-6A this weekend.

The state’s top-ranked team, Westlake earned the #1 seed in the Division I bracket, while Lake Travis finishes as the #2 seed in DI. The Cavaliers will open its playoff action taking on Round Rock next week.

In its first year of 6A play, Dripping Springs is locked as the #1 seed in the DII brackets, while Bowie is locked in as the #2 seed. Bowie, the district’s #2 DII seed visits Lake Travis tonight.

Rouse Takes Early Lead

In a game that was moved up to 6:00; Rouse has opened the scoring and lead Elgin 7-0 in a District 11-5A division matchup of a pair of playoff qualifiers.

Two In; Three Vie for Last 2 Spots in 25-6A

With Vandegrift and Round Rock already claiming playoff spots, three teams are vying for the remaining 2 spots in the District 25-6A state playoff brackets.

Round Rock, 5-1 in district action, travels to Gupton Stadium to face playoff contender Vista Ridge (4-2). Manor (3-3) faces 2-4 Stony Point at Kelly Reeves while Cedar Ridge (3-3) is tackling 0-6 McNeil.
