Report: Browns TE Njoku won't have wrist surgery

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku, who landed on injured reserve because of a broken wrist last week, will not have surgery, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Tuesday.

The news means that Njoku might not be done for the season. The Browns could activate him off IR after he has missed at least eight weeks. He would be eligible to play as soon as Nov. 14 against Pittsburgh, if healthy.

Njoku got hurt in the first quarter of the Browns' 23-3 victory over the New York Jets on Sept. 16. On the same play, he sustained a concussion as he appeared to land on his head and neck after being knocked down by Jets cornerback Nate Hairston on a pass from Baker Mayfield.

Njoku finished with no catches in the Week 2 game after hauling in four receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland's season-opening loss to the Tennessee Titans.

In his third NFL season, all with the Browns, the 23-year-old University of Miami (Fla.) product has 92 career receptions for 1,062 yards and nine touchdowns.

In other Browns injury news, safety Damarious Randall (concussion) tweeted a picture of himself on football field with his arms spread wide, under the caption, "First day out ..." Cleveland.com reported that the post likely means that Randall, who sat out the past two weeks, is out of the concussion protocol.
