Report claims decline in downtown Sacramento homeless population

Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg announced on Tuesday that the homeless population in downtown has decreased over the last several months. He cited a report from the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, saying there was a 40% drop in the number of people sleeping outside in the area from September 2022 to February 2023. "From 200 to 120, a 40% decrease, and that is something to shout from the rooftops," Steinberg said.
