Report: Colts’ Matt Eberflus an ‘early favorite’ for Texans HC job

Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus interviewed with the Houston Texans last week for their vacant head coach role and has emerged as an early favorite, per Ben Volin of The Boston Globe.

One day after the Colts lost offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, who will be the new head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, it seems the Colts may have to replace both coordinators in one season.

Eberflus initially declined the Texans’ request to interview for their head coach role. But after they made a hard push, Eberflus went in for the interview. It seems it went well enough to where he may be heading south but staying in the division.

Eberflus interviewed with three teams this offseason: the New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers. The Jets wound up going with Robert Saleh while the Chargers went with Brandon Staley.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes out of this, but the Colts could very well be replacing both of their coordinators this offseason.
