Vikings DE Danielle Hunter suffered a season-ending neck injury in 2020. When that news was announced, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported the Vikings would have a decision: make Danielle Hunter the highest-paid defender in football or trade him.

So, predictably, Hunter did not show up to the first day of Vikings’ OTAs. ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported that we shouldn’t expect Hunter to be present in the next couple of weeks.

“Now, does he have leverage? Depends on who you ask. But as of now, I don’t expect to see Hunter at OTAs on Wed. (when media is allowed) or at any point the next few weeks,” Cronin reported on Twitter.

Hunter’s current deal runs through 2023. If he wants a new deal, however, 2021 will be pivotal for him. The defensive end needs to show that he is still capable of his production from 2018 and 2019. And if he is, this Vikings defense could be really good next season.
