In September, former Vanderbilt baseball ace Kumar Rocker had shoulder surgery, according to a report from ESPN's Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan.

Rocker's agent, Scott Boras, told ESPN that, "We have a very clear understanding, after a minor scope, of Kumar's medically documented health, which has allowed him to perform at the highest levels." Boras told ESPN that the surgery did not involve Rocker's rotator cuff or labrum.

Rocker's team informed MLB clubs of the procedure prior to this year's MLB Draft, which begins July 17. In February, Commodores coach Tim Corbin said that, "He's very much on course to be very healthy and be pitching at some point."

Following last year's draft snafu, in which Rocker failed to sign with the New York Mets after being selected 10th overall due to unspecified concerns about his health, Rocker pitched for the independent Tri-City Valley Cats. He hit as high as 99 mph with his fastball and also showcased his signature slider.

With Vanderbilt, Rocker was an All-American and co-led the country in strikeouts in his junior season. He was the 2019 College World Series Most Outstanding Player.
