French authorities have dropped a sexual assault investigation into Conor McGregor, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

Police on the French island of Corsica detained McGregor last September following a complaint against the UFC fighter. Prosecutors described the allegation as "acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition."

Authorities didn't provide any further details about the allegation. At the time, a McGregor spokesperson issued a statement to Yahoo Sports denying the allegations.

“Conor McGregor vigorously denies any accusation of misconduct,” the statement read. “He has been interviewed and released.”

Evidence against McGregor 'not sufficient'

TMZ obtained a document from French prosecutors on Wednesday declaring that they didn't find enough evidence to move forward with a case against McGregor. Per TMZ translation:

"The examination of the present proceedings does not justify any criminal prosecution since:

The facts or the circumstances of the facts of the proceedings could not have been clearly established by the investigations.

The pieces of evidence are therefore not sufficient for the offense to be constituted and for criminal prosecution to be engaged."

McGregor's representative Karen Kessler issued a statement to TMZ:

"They did a criminal investigation," Kessler said. "They collected DNA, and the DNA evidence confirmed McGregor's account."

The news from France broke just hours after UFC confirmed that McGregor will face a rematch against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on July 10. Poirier knocked McGregor out at UFC 257 in January.
