The New York Giants recently conducted a general manager interview with Joe Schoen, who currently serves as assistant GM of the Buffalo Bills. He is widely considered a favorite for the job.

There’s also been speculation that if the Giants were to hire Schoen, he would come as sort of a package deal with Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll — something Giants co-owner John Mara recently dismissed.

“We want to get the general manager ideally done first and, obviously, we’ll talk about the candidates for head coach, but it’s not going to be a package deal,” Mara told reporters at his year-end press conference.

Despite Mara’s insistence that there will be no package deals, there seems to be growing evidence Schoen and Daboll could come as a pair.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports that the Giants are “very interested” in Daboll as their next head coach.

As expected when this process began, some sources say the Giants are very interested in Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, the Belichick disciple who has gotten the best out of quarterback Josh Allen in Buffalo.

The Buffalo ticket of GM Joe Schoen and head coach Daboll certainly is an intriguing one. Schoen, who interviewed in Chicago, too, is considered as ready as any of the Giants’ nine candidates to take the big chair. And Daboll as an offensive coach could tackle the team’s worst side of the ball.

Daboll is among the favorites of Giants fans and is someone we pegged when going over a list of potential head coaching candidates.

Brian Daboll is the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator who has turned the very raw Josh Allen into an NFL superstar. A very creative presence who can get the best out of the offensive line, straighten out Daniel Jones and get both the the passing and running games back into he 21st century.

Package deal with Schoen or not, don’t be surprised if Daboll does eventually land an interview with the Giants for their head coaching vacancy.
