Report: Hornets in a ‘pretty position’ to resign Miles Bridges

As the negotiation period of free agency kicks off Thursday evening, the Charlotte Hornets have a decision to make on their restricted free agent.
Miles Bridges, who had a career-year last season with the Hornets, is set to hit the restricted market and though was first thought to have several suitors, may end up back in Charlotte after all.
Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported on Wednesday that the Hornets will be in a ‘pretty position’ to bring Bridges back, whether he signs an offer sheet with another team or not.
Fischer writes:
Charlotte has also signaled it will match any offer for Bridges. So any interested suitor would be incentivized to throw the 24-year-old forward his four-year maximum in order to force the Hornets’ hand. If an offer sheet never comes, Charlotte will be in a pretty position to bring Bridges back under $30 million annually.
Detroit, who was seen to be a potential landing spot for either Bridges or Suns center Deandre Ayton, not doesn’t hold the cap space to entice either free agent.
Fischer notes that though the Indiana Pacers mulled over the thought of targeting Bridges, looks to have opted to go in a different direction.
With numerous reports of Charlotte not offering Bridges the max countered by Mitch Kupchak stating at Steve Clifford’s press conference on Tuesday that ‘we’re going to bring him back’, the only question now is for how much?
