Report: Kicker Josh Lambo sues Jacksonville Jaguars for emotional distress

Former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo has filed a lawsuit against the team, claiming his performance suffered as a result of being kicked and verbally abused by former head coach Urban Meyer.

Lambo is seeking his $3.5 million salary in 2021 and damages for emotional distress, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Lambo's lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in the 4th Judicial Circuit Court in Duval County.

In December, Lambo said he was kicked by Meyer during a practice after he missed a pair of preseason field goal attempts.

Lambo told the Tampa Bay Times he was in a lunge position, ''Left leg forward, right leg back and Urban Meyer, while I’m in that stretch position, comes up to me and says, ‘Hey Dips——, make your f—— kicks!’ And kicks me in the leg.”

Lambo said the kick certainly wasn't as hard as he could've done but it certainly wasn't a love tap.

Meyer was fired after 13 games into the first year because of repeated missteps, including Lambo's allegations.

The Jaguars released Lambo in October after current kicker Matthew Wright sealed his spot on the roster when he made a last-second 53-yard field goal to lift the Jaguars to a 23-20 victory against the Miami Dolphins in London that snapped their 20 consecutive game losing streak, the second-longest in franchise history.

Lambo was one of the most successful kickers in Jaguars' franchise history, making 91.6% of his field goal attempts (76 of 83) in 46 career games. Lambo had never missed a field-goal attempt at TIAA Bank Field until this season, making 41 in a row.
