Though Indianapolis Colts defensive coordiantor Matt Eberflus interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers for their vacant head coaching role, it appears he isn’t the favorite to land the job.

Instead, the Chargers reportedly have their sights set on Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

With the emerging talent of quarterback Justin Herbert busting out in 2020 en route to setting the NFL record for touchdown passes in a rookie season, it makes sense for the Chargers to go forward with an offensive-minded head coach.

Meanwhile, it seems the Colts may be retaining Eberflus for at least one more year before the round of interviews starts up again. With Robert Saleh heading to the New York Jets and now Daboll being the favorite in Los Angeles, there aren’t any other teams that have interest in Eberflus that we know of at this point.

If Eberflus continues to stay a popular candidate and if the defense continues to make strides, it won’t be long until the fourth-year defensive coordinator lands a head coaching gig.
