Report: Michigan Hospital ICU At Capacity Due To Coronavirus

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — As the number of patients suffering from the new coronavirus increase in Michigan, hospitals have begun feeling overwhelmed with the numbers.

One southeast Michigan hospital — Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township — has reportedly reached capacity in its intensive care unit due to the growing number of coronavirus patients, the Detroit Free Press reported Wednesday.

"We are continuing to balance ICU capacity across our health system, transferring patients when necessary," said Dr. Adnan Munkarah, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for Henry Ford, told the Free Press.

The state released its updated numbers for confirmed coronavirus cases in Michigan. The overall number of cases was at 9,334 as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, with 337 deaths.

Patch has reached out to the hospital for confirmation and will update once we hear back.
