Report: Oklahoma OL Stacey Wilkins to officially enter name into transfer portal

An enigma of Oklahoma football in the last couple of years appears to be heading somewhere else, as Sooners offensive lineman Stacey Wilkins will be officially entering his named into the transfer portal in the near future, per a report from SoonerScoop’s Bob Przybylo.

This comes after Wilkins posted on Facebook his intention to enter the portal on Friday evening and just before he announced it on Twitter on Saturday afternoon.

Wilkins was originally a four-star recruit in the class of 2019 and was always viewed as someone with loads of potential and as a future key piece of the Oklahoma offensive line. But, after redshirting the 2019 season appearing in only four games and opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, he never had the chance to play the big role he was expected to eventually have.

It was unclear what kind of playing time Wilkins was going to get in 2021 at the tackle spot, but it certainly felt like he was at the very least going to be in the conversation for legitimate action as the team went through fall camp. That will have to be a question that will remain unanswered.
