Report: Panthers fear torn quad for DT Poe

The Carolina Panthers fear defensive tackle Dontari Poe could miss the rest of the season, reportedly with a torn quadriceps muscle suffered in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Poe was carted off the field in the second quarter. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the extent of the injury Monday and said Poe was scheduled for an MRI.

The 29-year-old veteran has 22 tackles and four sacks in 11 games (10 starts) this season.

Poe is in the second season of a three-year, $27 million contract he signed with Carolina in March 2018.

A first-round pick (No. 11 overall) by Kansas City in 2012 and a two-time Pro Bowl selection with the Chiefs, Poe has 280 tackles and 20.5 sacks in 121 career games (118 starts) with the Chiefs (2012-16), Atlanta Falcons (2017) and Panthers.
