England winger Jadon Sancho is set to rejoin Borussia Dortmund on Friday after the Bundesliga club reportedly reached a loan agreement for the rest of the season with Manchester United.

Germany's Bild paper said on Thursday that only final details need to be settled in a €3 million ($3.3 million) package and that Sancho could join Dortmund at their training camp in Marbella, Spain, before the weekend.

Neither club has confirmed the talks, and it is also unclear whether a potential deal would include an option to make the move permanent in summer.

Sancho played for Dortmund 2017-2021, scoring 50 goals and providing 64 assists in 137 matches.

He then joined United for €85 million but never managed a breakthrough there, and has not played since September after criticising manager Erik ten Hag. His United contract is until 2026.

Dortmund are fifth in the Bundesliga in an inconsistent season, six points off the top four and 15 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

They start the second part of the season on January 13 at bottom club Darmstadt.

Dortmund have also brought in former players Nuri Sahin and Sven Bender as assistant coaches for Edin Terzic, and captain Emre Can said after the first units in Marbella that "they will definitely help us.

"I believe that a lot will change. I think higfhly of them," Can said, naming "very nive and cool guys."

Can expressed hope that Dortmund will rally like like season when only a draw on the final matchday against Mainz denied them the title.

"Maybe we can do it again, it has been done before. I hope it is the case again this year," he said.

"We want to advance in the Champions League and have a good start into the second part of the Bundesliga season. It must be our aim to play Champions League again next year."
