Report: Seahawks answering calls on Russell Wilson trade originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

This Russell Wilson story is starting to get reallyyyyyy interesting. After the drama began to unfold last week, a report came out on Wednesday that the Seahawks were unhappy with how Wilson’s unhappiness was laid out so publicly. Now, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports that not only have the Seahawks started to answer teams calling about their disgruntled QB.

“I know there’s been calls made on both sides,” Russini said on the Pat McAfee show on Thursday. “From Seattle, and to other teams.”

When McAfee heard that, he literally jumped out of his seat, and for good reason too. This is the first indication we’ve heard that the Seahawks are entertaining the idea of trading away their franchise quarterback. It also comes in stark contrast to trade rumors coming out of Houston, as the Texans have remained firm by publicly stating they have no intentions of trading Deshaun Watson, even though he wants out. Behind the scenes, the story’s the same. Last month, Adam Schefter reported that despite numerous calls, the Texans insist he’s not available.

But after reporting that the Seahawks were at least engaging with other teams about a possible Wilson trade, Russini took to Twitter herself to clarify her comments.

“I learned early in my career you have to be very careful with the wording of, ‘asking for a trade, demanding a trade,’” Russini said on the Pat McAfee show. “The word, ‘demand,’ in terms of Russell Wilson, I don’t sense that.”

Whether or not Wilson has uttered those magic words, things are clearly more serious than we previously thought.
