Tennessee football will play UTEP in 2024

Tennessee football will play Texas-El Paso in 2024, a team spokesman confirmed.

The Vols will host UTEP on Nov. 23, 2024, at Neyland Stadium. Tennessee will pay UTEP a guarantee of $1.6 million.

The Vols won their three previous games against UTEP — 26-16 in 1986, 56-0 in 1990 and 24-0 in 2018.

UTEP, a Conference USA member, has a 7-5 record this year. And it will play Fresno State in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday.

The UTEP game is the second known non-conference game for Tennessee in 2024. It previously announced a home game against Oklahoma on Sept. 7, 2024, as part of a two-game contract.

However, the first game of that deal — a 2020 game at Oklahoma — was not played because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Oklahoma will join the SEC no later than 2025.
